A person holds a translucent, feather-shaped crystal against a blurred natural background, showcasing its intricate details.

In the last issue we were all about sculptures, but our newest deep dive has been into the world of crystals. This is a repeat topic for us, but this time it is Forrest who’s the driving force. Last time we did it, he was just teeny-tiny. He came to me recently and asked if he could have his own crystal collection like his sister, Nixie, and told me he wanted to learn more about them. So, that is what we’ve been doing.

We first did some research to learn the difference between rocks, crystals and minerals and we watched some videos online by Miacademy Learning Channel on YouTube. We also read and looked at several books. Our favourites were Rocks and Minerals: The Definitive Visual Guide, published by DK, and My Book of Rocks and Minerals: Things to Find, Collect, and Treasure! also published by DK, but geared towards younger learners.
